When we hear the word romantic, our minds often drift to candlelit dinners, surprise getaways, red roses, and handwritten love notes. But is that all there is to romance? Over the years, I’ve come to realize that the definition of “romantic” can be incredibly personal—and it’s not always about grand gestures or fairy-tale moments.
For me, romance lies in the little things.
It’s the way someone remembers your favorite part of a song and plays it for you on a rough day. It’s when they bring you a cup of tea just the way you like it—no sugar, lots of love. It’s the way they look at you across the room in a crowd and smile because they know you. It’s silent support in the middle of chaos, a touch on your shoulder when words fail, a glance that says, I’m here.
Romance isn’t always poetic—it can be practical.
It’s someone saving the last bite for you. It’s folding your laundry because you were too tired. It’s fixing your broken phone screen without you asking. It’s standing by your side when you feel like the world’s falling apart. It’s comfort. It’s safety. It’s quiet loyalty.
Of course, I’m not saying I don’t enjoy romantic dates or handwritten letters—I do! But what truly melts my heart is knowing that someone chooses me, in a thousand small ways, every single day.
So, what’s your definition of romantic?
Is it walks under the stars, whispered promises, and surprise kisses? Or is it morning coffee, held hands in silence, and staying up late just to talk? Whatever it is, I believe romance is less about what you do and more about how deeply you care.
