There are days when life feels beautifully ordinary.
You wake up early, go for a walk, smile at strangers, finish your coffee, reply to emails, laugh with friends, and convince yourself you’ve finally moved on.
And then…
A familiar song plays.
A street smells like rain.
A coffee shop looks exactly the way it did years ago.
Suddenly, the version of you that you thought had disappeared quietly walks back into the room.
People often believe healing is a straight road. I don’t think it is.
Healing is strange.
It lets you forget just enough to keep living, but every now and then it gently reminds you of the person you once were.
There was a time when I believed some people would remain in our lives forever. Not because they promised to, but because my heart couldn’t imagine a future without them.
Life had other plans.
Years have passed.
I’ve built a different life. I laugh. I work. I travel. I celebrate birthdays. I have reasons to be grateful.
Yet every once in a while, an invisible door opens somewhere inside me.
Behind that door is a sixteen-year-old heart that still remembers everything.
This isn’t a story about blame.
It’s not about wishing the past had stayed.
It’s about how certain people leave quietly, while their memories continue to live inside us long after they’ve gone.
Maybe you’ve felt it too.
A memory that visits without asking.
A name you no longer speak aloud.
A chapter everyone thinks you’ve finished, except your heart still turns back to read a page every now and then.
If you have…
I’d like you to stay.
Because this story isn’t only mine.
It might be yours too.
